Replica Circa 1890 Robert Simpson Long Nose Putter Carnoustie Head Stamp
Robert Simpson is one of the greatest club makers of all time. This reproduction was made with precision and care by his grandson in 2000. Robert arrived in Carnoustie in 1883 to take up the position of professional at the Dalhousie Golf Club, and, as well as attending to the needs of the members, was encouraged by the Club to further his activity in club making. This decision unleashed the talents of the most prolific, inventive, and artistic club maker known. His design and manufacturing in his Carnoustie workshop changed the face of club making for all time. Characteristic of Robert Sipmson's clubs are seen in this replica, the toe of this long nose club comes to a point. Carnoustie is stamped on the head below Simpson. The head stamp has some wear. The head measurements are 4" long, 1 3/4" wide and 1 1/8" thick. 40" from the top of the grip to the bottom of the heel. Pictures included in this listing act as an additional condition report. If you would like any additional pictures of the club please ask prior to November 21st.
