1930 Municipal Golf Courses Report by the Civic Development Department - Chamber of Commerce of the USA
As explained in the Foreward of this 1930 Municipal Golf Courses Report by the Civic Development Department - US Chamber of Commerce "Today, only 35 years since the first municipal course was opened in this country, 179 cities maintain 272 public courses over with approximately 18,000,000 rounds are being played annually." Rich in content is this report of the state of golf in the United States in 1930, the year in which Bobby Jones completed his Grand Slam. Topics including Greens, Layout, Length of Holes and Clubhouse are all covered in this publication. Page 26, for example, is titled "Golf Clubs in the United States" and lists New York as having the most courses at 413 and Nevada as only 5 statewide. This comes from the legendary R. Otto Probst library, as indentified by the bookplate. It is in good condition as seen in the pictures.
