1939 PGA Championship at Pomonok CC Contestant Badge - Henry Picard Winner
This is an exceptionally solid example of the 1939 PGA Championship Contestants Badge with tremendous eye appeal. The 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" badge retains rich, deep coloring on its enamel, unscratched surface. The champion in the 1939 PGA Championship was Henry Picard who won the final match on the first hole of overtime with a birdie to defeat Byron Nelson. One of the best PGA players of the 1930's, Picard's win at the '39 PGA along with his 1938 Masters triumph were part of a 30 plus win career for the Hall of Famer known as the Hershey Hurricane. This pin remain in strong working fashion with original pin back intact. These badges with only a small field of 109 players in the 22nd PGA Championship remain difficult to obtain, as is the case with many of the pre-World War II player badges of admittance.
