Jack Fleck's 1961 PGA Bakersfield Open 14K Champions Medal-Final PGA Win
The 40-year-old Jack Fleck returned to the winners circle for the third and final time in his PGA career at the inaugural '61 Bakersfield Open. The victory did not come easy however, requiring a playoff win again just as his first two wins had required, most famously over Ben Hogan in the 1955 U.S. Open. The playoff win over Bob Rosburg came at the Bakersfield Country Club. Fleck received the 1 1/2" champions medal offered here with details as listed.
Front engravings states: "Winner - Bakersfield Open - Jack Fleck". Inside raised champions laurel wreaths is the engraved "14K", for the gold content of this sought after PGA winners medal. Reverse of the medal reads: "Professional Golfers Ass'n of America - PGA - Bakersfield Open Invitational - 1961 - Scores 71-71-69-65 - 276"
