Sam Snead Personal Custom Stetson Straw Hat - Size 7 1/8
Examine photos of Sam Snead in his 30's winning a 1940's PGA Championship, and Snead in his 90's as an elderly business man in the 2000's and you will find very few constants over the ages with the exception of his signature panama straw hat. It was there on his head in competition over almost all of his record setting 82 professional wins, and it was there in later life as he traveled in suit to his Hall of Fame inductions. The playing days photo of Sam, in hat, is well captured on the cover of Sports Illustrated issues of June 11, 1956 and Dec 5, 1960. This lot offers the winning bidder the chance to own that component of the "Snead Fashion Look". This haberdashery of the 'Slammer' is an early career model, prior to Sam having his own line of hats, with inside hat band reading 'Stetson' an additional tag notates that this head ware was constructed in a 7 1/8 size. With a nod to our rightfully providence sensitive environment it gives us great pleasure to offer that this item is sourced directly from the PGA of America with their historian providing a letter of provenance to the winning bidder. Heavy use is present with a separation present on base and top from wear. A letter of from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.

All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
