Hubert Green Signed Official Used 1985 PGA Championship Thurs-Fri-Sat Scorecards at Cherry Hills
Former U.S. Open Champion Hubert Green returned from virtual oblivion to out-duel defending Champion Lee Trevino at Cherry Hills Country Club in Englewood, Colorado. With sub-par rounds of 66 and 68, Trevino led at the midway point, but with closing rounds of 70 and 72, Green overtook Trevino for a two-stroke victory. Green lead off the tournament with low rounds himself, with a 67 and 69 himself as seen scored on the official 1985 PGA Championship scorecards that playing partner Craig Stadler carried and marked for Green. Both backsides the first two days were kind for him, as penciled he scored 33 Thursday and 32 Friday on the Par 36 back-9 holes. Green went on a birdie streak on Friday from hole 13 through 16, allowing him to post a sub-70 round after going two-over on the front side. Fred Couples carried, scored and signed the Saturday 3rd round scorecard for Green, where he stayed steady with a 1-under 70 despite nerves. Colorado's Cherry Hills Country Club has played a large part in golf history, hosting 5 majors with 1985 slightly surprisingly being the most recent. These have been stored in the PGA of America archives until now. You will receive Please note that these scorecards were previously mounted, so there is some tape remnants remaining as well as isolated subtle paper loss in some places. Options to restore are up to the the winning bidder. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot. A letter of from PGA Historian Emeritus Bob Denney will accompany this lot.
