Rory McIlroy's 2012 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island Used Winning Golf Ball

The Titleist Pro-V1x golf ball in this lot represents a very special category of golf memorabilia that is very rarely for public consumption, a Major Winner's final round marked and used golf ball; this sourced from the PGA of America archives. The a 23-year-old phenom from Northern Ireland Rory McIlroy was kindly asked to donate something to the PGA of America after his victory at their tournament, the 2012 PGA Championship held at Kiawah Island. McIlroy in-turn donated his marked and used Titleist ball from his bogey-free 66 (-6) FINAL round. Rory McIlroy won the 2012 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island by a record eight strokes for his second major championship victory and first PGA Championship. He would go on to win the PGA Championship again two years later and the 2014 Open Championship as well that year. There is a black dot on each side of the ball covering up the number, the personal marking in which you can see at different points in the broadcast on August 12, 2012. From 2007 until 2013 McIlroy used the Titleist ball. Upon signing with Nike in 2013, McIlroy soon switched to the Nike ball. There is a strike mark to the right of the Pro-V1x line that can be seen in the third photo. This ball comes with a A letter of from PGA Historian Emeritus Bob Denney to accompany this lot.
