November 1890 Original Albumen Photo A Tournament of Professional Golfers Lytham & St. Annes W/Willie Park Jr. & Old Tom Morris
An unbelievable, rare albumen photo 10 1/2" x 12 1/2" of this early professional match at Lytham & St. Annes. A profoundly scarce survivor of golf antiquity that is seldom if ever found in this oversize format. Depicts back row left to right: George Low, Sandy Herd, Jack Morris, Willis Campbell, Hugh Kirkaldy. Front row left to right: Willie Park Jr., Andrew Kirkaldy, Old Tom Morris, Willie Fernie, Archie Simpson. This pre turn of the century event contested at Lytham & St. Annes was won by Willie Fernie. Bit of staining and chipping to the mount, photo is overall excellent with some light spotting and toning. For early golf collectors, the ultimate. Please note that this image originates from a known golfing families archives of this time period. It is offered only as a market test to ascertain if there is an interested buyer in obtaining, only in entirety, the balance of this collection consisting of patents, long nose clubs, ball-face patent irons, cabinet cards and other ephemera. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
**If extended bidding goes pass midnight ET, The Golf Auction reserves the right to close the auction at any time. We recommend bidders place their maximum bids prior to that time. Thank you
