R. S. Simpson's 1953 OPEN Championship at Carnoustie Golf Club Member Ticket - Hogan Winner
Issued in advance to Carnoustie's 1953 Open Championship were a limited number of bound tickets such as this one to the loyal due paying members of the historic club established in 1842. There were no disappointed members of the gallery that week. Few names in the history of the great game of golf get more respect than Ben Hogan, eventual '1953 Champion Golfer of the Year.' Coming from very little, Hogan had to work for everything he was ever given, and that's the way he preferred it. In 1953, before the largest gallery in Open history, Ben Hogan's Sunday round 68 was a new single round course record at Carnoustie. His 72 hole score of 282 was also the lowest score in the history of the Open Championship. There was nothing stopping him, as Hogan had claimed his third straight Major title of the year. He returned to the States for a New York ticker tape parade which was followed by a similar parade in his hometown of Fort Worth on Monday July 27th. This ticket was issued to R. S. Simpson Esq. and stamped by a member of the club's hierarchy. 3 3/8" x 4 1/4"

All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
**If extended bidding goes pass midnight ET, The Golf Auction reserves the right to close the auction at any time. We recommend bidders place their maximum bids prior to that time. Thank you
