1956 US Women's Amateur at Meridian Hills CC Contestant Badge
1956 saw the first Canadian in Marlene Stewart to claim the US Amateur Championship in a close victory of 2 & 1 over then future 5-time champion JoAnne Gunderson. This contest took place at Meridian Hills CC. Employing the celebrated classic USGA contestant badge design is this fine example from that tournament, found in similar condition to when it was issued by the organization 65 years ago. Added significance to this tournament lies in the fact that contestant Ann Gregory became the first African American woman to compete in a United States Golf Association event at the 1956 US Women's Amateur. 1 1/2" x 1 1/4"

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
**If extended bidding goes pass midnight ET, The Golf Auction reserves the right to close the auction at any time. We recommend bidders place their maximum bids prior to that time. Thank you
