Charles 'C.B.' Macdonald '1895' Large Format Framed George Pietzcker Photo

The camera eye which captured this image was George Pietzcker, a remarkable photographer from St. Louis, who covered the golf seen from the early 1910's till mid 1930's. During this time period, he was the official photographer for the United States Golf Association creating a visual record of the country's national championships and champions. This large format photograph of Charles 'C.B.' Macdonald with a notation of '1895' shows MacDonald in a posed follow-through stance and looking straight at the lens. When it comes to an influential hall of fame resume MacDonald had all the facets of the game covered. Tutored by Old Tom Morris, Charles began playing golf matches with prominent golfers of the day on the Old Course at St. Andrews, including Young Tom Morris. As a player he won the first United States Amateur in 1895 by the match play score of 12&11 (which is still the record winning margin to this day). With his course design work that includes Chicago Golf Club and the National Golf Links, MacDonald earned the title of "Father of American Golf Architecture". Finally as a pioneer of golf in the Americas this visionary became a driving force in the founding of the U.S.G.A. Donald. It comes stamped (Clemens Avenue) in the front lower right hand corner with the early Pietzcker, St. Louis marking. Original Pietzcker's are seldom seen especially from this early St. Louis time period prior to him moving his studio to Miami Beach, Fl in the mid-1930's. 22 1/2" x 26 1/2"
