Gary Player Signed Masters Collage Print - Multiple Action Shots - Framed
Nine-time Major winner Gary Player leaves his autograph on this premium collage display with a pair of action shots of The Black Knight depicted, including possibly the most noteworthy area of his game - the sand escape. It is individually numbered 115/550, with this surely being the finest presentation. Player's nine Major championships is tied with Ben Hogan for fourth on the all-time list, trailing only Walter Hagen (11), Tiger Woods (14), and Jack Nicklaus (18). The South African golfer was one of golf's "Big Three" with Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer dating back to the 1960's and 1970's when they were largely responsible for the growing popularity of golf during the game's television era.
Originally obtained through Sanders' connections and celebrity status as a staple in golf for over two decades. The 20-time PGA Tour winner Doug Sanders was picked as a member of the 1967 Ryder Cup Team and obtained the nickname "The Peacock of the Fairways" with his colorful wardrobe. With friends in high places, a typical pro-am tournament field Sanders took part in might have consisted of names such as George H.W. Bush, Neil Armstrong and Willie Nelson. A large number of items that Doug collected over his playing career and thereafter are on display at The Doug Sanders Museum. Sharing in the joy of collecting, the generated funds from this sale will help benefit the Doug Sanders Museum. A signed letter of provenance from the museum will accompany this item. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot. 24" x 30".
