1967 'Francis Ouimet Wins United States Open Title - 1913' Gustavson Print - Matted

The stage was set, with the outcome undetermined as the United States Golf Association chose Massachusetts' own The Country Club in Brookline to host their national championship, the US Open. Brookline, Massachusetts, native and 20-year old amateur Francis Ouimet would earn the nickname "Father of Amateur Golf" with tournament victory. As depicted, Ouimet would win in a playoff over leading professional golfers of the day Harry Vardon and Ted Ray. The only more improbable success story that week was that of the caddie he had employed, 10-year old Eddie Lowery. This print was done in the same series as 'The Old Apple Tree Gang' and 'Shinnecock Hills in 1892.' Lealand Gustavson's work has been used on The Golf Channel among other media outlets and produced the line of Sportsman's Eyrie Prints. This print is matted and wrapped.
