Maureen Orcutt's Original in Augusta Montell Photo Signed (Frank Christian Uncle)
13" x 10" photo an original from Juan Montell photography of Maureen Orcutt walking on golf course at Augusta, GA in 1932 is offered here. Maureen Orcutt was a renowned amateur golfer beginning in the 1920's through her "senior" years in the 1960's. She was a member of four Curtis Cup teams. Juan Montell immigrated from Sicily in the late 1800's and found a passion for photography and entrepreneurship that led to him photographing the land in Augusta as it transformed into the Augusta National Golf Club. His nephew Frank Christian Sr. took over the business in 1927 and later became the official photographer for the ANGC, working closely with Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts. This Augusta photograph of Orcutt comes from the personal collection of Maureen Orcutt.
THE MAUREEN ORCUTT COLLECTION
Maureen Orcutt, playing out of White Beeches Golf and Country Club in Haworth, is credited with 65 state and national victories including ten New Jersey Womens Amateurs, ten Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association championships, seven Women’s Eastern match-play titles, five Metropolitan Seniors, three North and South Amateurs, two U.S. Seniors and two Canadian Amateurs. From 1932 to 1938, she played on the first four U.S. Curtis Cup teams, which never tasted defeat. She was twice runner up for the United States Women’s Amateur title (1927 and 1936) and finished second in the White Beeches men’s club championship at the age of 17. As a journalist, she covered women’s golf for The New York Journal, The New York Evening World, the North American Newspaper Alliance, Golf Illustrated, and The National Golf Review. In 1969, she received the first Tanqueray Award for contributions to amateur sports. She was also elected to the New York Sports Hall of Fame.

When placing INITIAL bid in the auction, you must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your bid. All items with multiple bids in the auction will be eligible for the extended bidding period. Each lot will have its OWN COUNTDOWN CLOCK set for a 30-minute interval, and the clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will automatically close at 10pm ET
4. All available lots will begin closing on a LOT BY LOT basis at 10pm ET
**Once extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, each lot will then begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you**
