When combing through your set of 1982 Donruss PGA Tour cards with green and white borders and a vibrant orange nameplate you will eventually come across #48, post-swing Barry Jaeckel. With Jaeckel's pedigree he was destined for the big stage. Barry grew up in Los Angeles and was the son of Academy Award nominated actor that is best known for his role in The Dirty Dozen, Richard Jaeckel. Four years after winning the Southern California Amateur golf title, Barry Jaeckel would find international success becoming only the third American to win the 1972 French Open, following Walter Hagen and Byron Nelson. He would make a nice home for himself on the tour, playing over 500 PGA Tour events and championing the 1978 Tallahassee Open. Barry Jaeckel is gracious enough to let The Golf Auction share his personal collection and tell his story.
