1962 US Open at Oakmont CC Season Grounds Full Unused Ticket #6781
The 1962 US Open was one of the most exhilarating US Open's ever, with the young Jack Nicklaus and hometown favorite Arnold Palmer battling it out in a playoff, Jack emerging from it with his first professional win and major. The appropriate and historic setting of Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania was the main stage for two leading actors who at the time were opposite in nearly every way.
Offered here is the FULL unused season grounds June 15th ticket #6781 from the tournament that launched a lifelong friendly rivalry between Nicklaus and Palmer. Print is strong with the Oakmont squirrel on the front and a local paint company dark blue advertising on the verso. For reference purposes we offered a ticket from this tournament's playoff round in out 2022 September Auction that received 29 bids and an achieved price of $6,039.
The ticket category had been underappreciated in the sports memorabilia industry for many years, until a surge in prices only a couple years back seemingly caught up to its value. A 'FULL' ticket from this historical event remains very difficult, with this being your opportunity to own one of the scant few examples that weren't turned into stubs. AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
Place your bids now as this auction will close beginning at 10:00pm EDT Sunday, November 27th. When placing your INITIAL bid in the auction, you must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your bid. All items with multiple bidders in the auction will be eligible for the extended bidding period. Each lot will have its OWN COUNTDOWN CLOCK set for a 30-minute interval, and the clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will automatically close at 10pm EDT
4. All available lots will begin closing at 10pm EDT
Extended bidding starts at 10pm EDT, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
