Original Photo of Bobby Jones and Cast on Movie Set
Here we have a photo of Bobby Jones standing with the famous actors that appeared with him in the series of movie shorts he did for Warner brothers in the early 1930s.
This is an original photo. It is not a copy and it is not a wirephoto.
We surmise that this photo may have been owned by a personal friend or relative of “Carl” the assistant director as he is identified on the back simply as “Carl” and that person also may have personally known some of the actors as they are identified in familiar terms such as “Eddie Robinson’ and Joe Brown” The photo may have resided in a family album as the photo corners are clipped.
A paper caption identifying the people in the photo has been affixed to the bottom of the photo.
In addition the back of the photo, handwritten in black ink , also identifies those depicted in the photo.
In this 9 ½ x 7 ½ “ photo Bobby jones is standing in the back row with the asst. director “Carl”, Eddie Robinson, Joe E. Brown, and others. Seated in the row in front of Jones are Joan Blondell Eddie Meyers, and the film’s director George Marshall.
Edward G. Robinson, Joe E. Brown and Joan Blondell were among the Who’s Who of Hollywood at the time.
This is a unique one of a kind photo of Bobby Jones on the movie set of the superb series of his instructional shorts.
