PGA Assistant-Professional Championship Titleist/Footjoy Worldwide Perpetual Trophy 1977-1994
In 1979, 15 years prior to Loren Roberts' first of eight PGA Tour wins he hoisted this trophy. Twelve years prior to Fred Funk's first of eight PGA Tour victories he took his picture with this hardware in 1984. Wes Short Jr's long PGA Tour win would come 11 years after winning and posing with this substantial winner's perpetual trophy in 1994 coming in at 35" x 15 1/2." Stories like this, and many more with this being their top golf career achievement from 1977-1994 , started with the PGA Assistant-Professional Championship Titleist/Footjoy Worldwide tournament win. This actual, perpetual trophy from the PGA of America's archives contained a silver coated actual FootJoy shoe atop the trophy that is loose with the ability to reattach. Impressive in every way is this award that meant so much for so many people growing the game from inside out. The final photo shows 1985 winner Jon Fielder holding this lot after winning at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, Massachusetts credit the SCPGA for this. Notice the final base would be added later to continue the winner's nameplate tradition.
