Vintage Glass Plate Negative - Dennis Brearley Collection

Poland Spring was the first golf course built at a resort in America and includes views of the White Mountains, fast bent wood greens, beautiful fairways, ponds and tees for all abilities. In 1896 Arthur Fenn designed the first 6 holes, and 1912 Donald Ross added his signature to complete the full 18 holes. He created a championship course that is maintained today. Lot will come with disc containing a high resolution photo from the glass plate negative, as well as the plate itself. Rights to photo will be with winning bidder for this lot.
‘Dennis Brearley (1945-2003) was a Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist for a Boston newspaper when in 1978 he left the industry to embark on a small business venture. Brearley very successfully sold the historic photographs printed from his collection of historic photo negatives. The collection of original negatives is regarded as one of the greatest photographic archives of its type in the United States. The variety and quality of these images is truly remarkable inclusive of numerous iconic images from many of the greatest names in sports.’
