Robert Simpson Carnoustie The Perfect Hand Forged Hickory Shaft Golf Iron
Iron manufactured by the renowned professional club maker Robert Simpson of Carnoustie, Scotland. Known as The Perfect iron, this model features a specialized hand-forged iron head with a distinctive bulbous, weighted back designed to concentrate mass behind the point of impact. The head is mounted on an original hickory wood shaft and secured at the hosel with a visible metal pin. The face of the club features a hand-punched dot pattern contained within an incised rectangular border. The reverse of the club head is marked with several stamped inscriptions including Patent Applied For and No. 21507. A circular stamp contains the text R. Simpson and Carnoustie. The center of the back is stamped with Warranted, Hand Forged, and the model name The Perfect. On the heel of the back is Simpson's recognizable maker mark consisting of a crescent moon and a five-pointed star. The hickory shaft shows remnants of an original maker stamp mid-way down, though it is no longer legible.
