Rory McIlroy Signed 2014 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Hole #1 Tournament Used Flown Flag w/ 'Champion Golfer of Year' & 'Tournament Used' Inscrip.
Rumblings in the industry as of late are lack of significant Rory McIlroy tournament used items avaliable after shaking up the world of golf with his entrance into the Grand Slam club - doors that were shut for 25 years. On the heels of offering a handful of Tiger Woods signed major winning flags topping $15k on more than a couple occasions, Likely the most impactful golfer since Tiger is represented in this rare opportunity - Rory McIlroy signed 2014 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Hole #1 flown flag. Better yet he added two meaningful inscriptions, "Champion Golfer of the Year" and "Tournament Used" the latter recognizing the unique "tournament only" design from that week. It was his first hole and first birdie of the final round, Royal - Par 4, getting to 17 under and putting pressure on playing partner Rickie Fowler right away.
This flag is double sided, with the thick '1' in red in the center of the yellow hole marker from McIlroy's long Open Championship win. There is no tag at the bottom, found on the merchandise flags for sale. McIlroy added his stunner of a modern, intricate signature in bold black marker on the left side of the hole number just above the "Champion Golfer of the Year" traditionalist inscription fitting of The Open. On the right are the significant words of "Tournament Used" also in Rory's hand.
Rory McIlroy won the 2014 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool wire to wire, beating runner-ups Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia. This win, Rory's third Major, made him the first European to win 3 different Major tournaments. An excellent example of Rory's signature comes in black marker on this flag from the tournament.
