It is a special opportunity which The Golf Auction has to offer to our bidders this seldom viewed behind the scenes look at the 1973 United States Ryder Cup team. As a special birthday gift to a golf enthusiast, our consignor, this photo which measures 15 1/2 X 19 3/8 in its matted form, and is framed to 22 1/2 X 26 3/8 was presented through the original photographer. This image which has not been commercially released, captures the U.S. squad in a jovial team setting. We will leave you to assume what Lee Trevino is inferring with his hand jesture, Who knows with six fingers raised he could be referring to his 6 and 5 triumph in the final days singles matches, or maybe that Jack in 1973 is the biggest player in the game of golf. What we do know is that a U.S. team with good companionship off the course coasted to a victory on the course of 19-13. The 1973 Ryder Cup was the first to be contested in Scotland with play taking place at Muirfield. Participating in the reverie of this image are (L to R) Lee Trevino, Homero Blancas, Tommy Aaron, Dave Hill, Gay Brewer, Lou Graham, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and JC Snead. An added value to this great image is the signatures of JC Snead, Lou Graham, Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus which appear either on the image itself or on the accompanying matting of the photo. These autographs have been reviewed by JSA, are deemed hand signed, and their paperwork verifying authenticity will come with this lot. It's Ryder Cup behind the scenes history, it's Arnie, it's Jack, its scarcity makes it a winning piece for the golf collector.
