No lesser expert then Ben Hogan declared that Oakland Hills Country Club just outside Detroit, MI was "a monster" when he was called on to play this course under 1951 United States Open conditions. Hogan tamed the monster that year, and in 1996 Steve Jones was up to the task when he won the Open at the famed Michigan course. Jones has proudly signed a golf ball appearing in this auction in black sharpie with the notation 1996 US Open. This lot comes with a COA from James Spence (JSA) one of the leading authenticators in the business.
