The Franklin Mint Tiger Woods Eyewitness Commemorative Sterling Silver Medal
A solid .925 sterling silver commemorative medal produced by The Franklin Mint to celebrate Eldrick Tiger Woods and his historic victory at the 1997 Masters Tournament. The obverse of the medal features a high-relief portrait of a smiling Tiger Woods alongside a smaller secondary figure shown at the peak of a golf swing. The reverse is struck with the following inscriptions: ELDRICK TIGER WOODS, 61ST MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT, 1997 CHAMPION, and lists his achievements as THE YOUNGEST EVER MASTERS CHAMPION, WIDEST WINNING MARGIN OF VICTORY, and LOWEST SCORE IN MASTERS HISTORY. The medal is marked .925 STERLING SILVER near the bottom edge above a stylized lowercase f mint mark with a horizontal crossbar. The medal is displayed within a vertical clear acrylic plaque featuring a dark green textured mat. The front of the mat bears silver-tone text reading THE TIGER WOODS EYEWITNESS COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL. The reverse of the plaque bears silver-tone text reading SOLID STERLING SILVER, LIMITED EDITION, and MINTED BY THE FRANKLIN MINT. The plaque fits into a separate, smoky-gray translucent plastic display base. This lot includes the original two-piece white cardboard presentation box with a custom-fit white polystyrene foam interior insert.
