Three Historical Golf Publications: Royal Dornoch, The Riviera, and Royal St. Georges. 1987-2015. (Signed) (DJ)


An assortment of three publications regarding prestigious historic golf clubs and courses. The primary work is a hardcover edition of A History of The Royal Dornoch Golf Club 1877-1999 by John Macleod, published in 2000 by Moravian Press Ltd., Elgin. This quarto-sized volume is bound in dark green cloth and retains a pictorial dust jacket featuring a landscape view of the course. The front cover of the jacket displays a printed gold facsimile signature reading John Macleod. The title page includes a printed crest of a lion rampant holding a horseshoe within a shield bordered by circles. The text includes numerous black and white historical photographs and a fold-out reproduction of a 1906 plan for the Royal Dornoch Golf Course. ISBN 1 870151 10 0. Also included is The Riviera Golf Courses, edited by Neil Crafter and published by Dormy House Press in 2015. This octavo volume is bound in grey cloth with a repeating red floral pattern and a red cloth spine. The limitation page states that this is copy number 45 of a limited edition of 200 copies. It bears two signatures in blue ink: one reading Neil Crafter and a second stylized signature above the printed name Dick Verinder. The volume is a compilation of material by Bernard Darwin and other sources. ISBN 978-0-9851451-4-9. Completing the lot is a softcover centenary booklet titled The Royal St. Georges Golf Club 1887-1987, authored by Bobby Furber and printed by Bob Pearce. The cream-colored wrappers are decorated with a red printed crest depicting St. George and the Dragon positioned above crossed golf clubs and two golf balls. The interior contains historical vignettes and quotes from golf figures including H.G. Hutchinson and J.H. Taylor.
