For Tiger Woods this due east route of significance collegiate golf exhibition against Georgia Tech and future Open Champion Stewart Cink to his Masters debut in March-April 1995. While the collegiate duel was the event being played, amateur 19-year-old Woods was still getting questions from the media about his first Masters tournament. "Asked about his Augusta expectations, Woods stated without hesitation, 'I'm going to try and win it. I try to win every tournament I go to, so that's not going to change," reported the Atlanta Journal. The "featured attraction Wednesday at Druid Hills" for the roughly 1,500 spectators, US Amateur champion Woods prepared for Augusta National by going head-to-head with Stewart Cink -pinning NCAA Golf's No.1 vs No.2.
