Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, John Daly & Tom Watson Signed Ltd Ed Oversize Photo 8/15
The spry 20-year-old Tiger Woods was getting bombarded with offers after becoming professional only months before on August 29th, 1996. Almost everyone was answered with a "no." The made-for-television 'The Skins' tournament with pals Fred Couples, John Daly, and Tom Watson? "Yes!" Here is a limited edition hand-numbered 8/15 oversize 24" x 20" photograph signed by each of those contestants including a Rookie Tiger Woods. These were given to contestants and select members of the tournament production team, including Chuck Gerber of ESPN and the individual overseeing the whole operation. Each signature is flawless in black sharpie below the standing image of the start contestant. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their full letter of authenticity #B58565 comes with this lot.
The Chuck Gerber Collection
Longtime ESPN and Ohlmeyer Communications executive and producer Chuck Gerber presided over a majority of the made-for-television 'Skins' and 'Senior Skins' Tournaments in the 1990's and 2000's that notably featured a who's who of golf with names like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Payne Stewart and a young Tiger Woods. Gerber became close with many of the aforementioned A-list golf stars chosen to fill out the four spots, resulting in many of the premium signed pieces of memorabilia presented in his collection. After numerous successful tournaments and 15 years at ESPN, Gerber was offered a new opportunity as a consultant for the NCAA's Southeastern Conference. There Gerber was instrumental in negotiating TV contracts and media relations.
"He was one of the most vibrant personalities in the sports media business and a true visionary at ESPN for many years. His impact on college sports in particular continues to serve fans today, and will for decades to come," ESPN Vice President Burke Magnus said of his coworker - and most importantly, friend.
