Tiger Woods' Historic 1997 Masters Personal Used Titleist Golf Ball Obtained After Final Rd 18th Hole
"Ball Please?" Our consignor Tanner Eicher reached out his hand next to his cousin Tracy Teasley III utilizing his youthful charm with no downside and endless potential. Then 5 years old, the Augusta-born youth patron would do this as the caddies would make their final walks after finishing off Augusta National's 18th - Holly. One ball would be different, "I did not realize at the time how spectacular that moment was for me as a young kid!" Eicher wrote in his notarized letter about this ball and that final round Sunday that changed golf forever -April 13th, 1997. "Fluff reached into the bag and handed me one of Tiger's balls." This Titleist red 1 Professional 90 ball was marked! The faint black sharpie line across Woods' then preferred ball type remains there as depicted in the photos, while faint.
Tiger Woods' famous embrace of his father Earl and then mother Kultida after the 1997 Masters tournament has been viewed millions of times between the CBS coverage and by those reliving the iconic moment online. While that was occurring, spotted briefly in footage from in front of it is Woods' caddie Mike Fluff Cowen carrying the winning flag on pole and appearing to conversate with patrons on the right side of the walkway. It lasted approximately 50 seconds before Woods continued towards the clubhouse, more than long enough for the waiting Fluff to supply Eicher with the souvenir of a lifetime. "I also remember when we were leaving, I was bombarded with people trying to purchase the ball I had been given. There was one man in particular that offered me $300 for it, my grandfather (Tracy Teasley, series badge holder since late 1950's) grabbed me by the shoulder and said, "come on, son" as we left Augusta National. In addition to the faint time-period sharpie mark on the 'TIGER' ball are strike marks depicting clear usage. Eicher asked our opinion on including the badge and spectator guide from the event, the former with bite marks from the 5-year old on the bottom left hand corner. 'Of course' was the answer, 'it was yours from that monumental day and part of the story.'
The official notarized letter dated March 5, 2026 that comes with this used ball given from Fluff to our consignor after the final hole of the tournament that officially launched Tiger Mania is signed by both Tanner Eicher and the public notary, thick paper stock that tells the story of this Tiger Woods 1997 Masters Tournament used Titleist red 1 Professional 90 'TIGER' ball set to catapult the winning Tiger Woods and or Masters collector into rarified air on the eve of 30 years since the feat.
