Two Vintage Items Including California Golf Association Medallion and 1962 Derryfield Country Club Bag Tag
This lot contains two items related to golfing history. The first is a metal octagonal commemorative medallion for the California Golf Association. The obverse features an octagonal border with relief floral motifs. A central circular medallion contains a relief depiction of the Great Seal of the State of California, showing a seated figure of Minerva with a spear and shield next to a grizzly bear, overlooking a harbor with a ship and a rising sun over mountains. The word EUREKA is visible above the mountains. Raised lettering around the border reads CALIFORNIA GOLF ASSOCIATION. The reverse is flat with a large area of dark residue from a previous adhesive or solder, suggesting the piece was once mounted. The second item is a circular plastic or laminate golf bag identification tag from the Derryfield Country Club municipal golf course in Manchester, New Hampshire. The obverse features the year 1962 in large black numerals on a yellow background. The reverse is cream-colored with black text around the perimeter reading CITY OF MANCHESTER MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE. The center is printed DERRYFIELD COUNTRY CLUB above a rectangular box containing the number 321. The tag includes a horizontal slot at the top for attachment to a bag strap.
