This octavo volume is the second edition of Harry Vardon's instructional work, The Complete Golfer. Published in London by Methuen & Co. at 36 Essex Street W.C., the title page identifies Vardon as the Open Champion for the years 1896, 1898, 1899, and 1903, as well as the 1900 American Champion. The book is bound in the publisher's original dark blue cloth with gilt-stamped lettering and a ruled border on the front cover. The spine also features gilt-stamped titles and the publisher's name at the base. The volume contains sixty-six black-and-white photographic illustrations demonstrating various golf techniques. A frontispiece portrait of Harry Vardon is included, featuring a printed facsimile of the author's signature. The text block edges are untrimmed and show significant age-toning while inside pages as shown have come unbound from spine. In damaged condition, but still to be treasured by many a player and collector alike.
