Vintage Royal Doulton Chas. Crombie Earthenware Golfing Series Plate Pattern
Circular display plate manufactured by Royal Doulton as part of the Golfing series. The cream-colored earthenware body is decorated with a multi-color transfer print in the style of artist Charles Crombie. The central scene depicts a golfer dressed in 17th-century attire, including a wide-brimmed hat, doublet, and breeches, preparing to putt. Above the central figure is the printed proverb: HE HATH A GOOD JUDGMENT WHO RELIETH NOT WHOLLY ON HIS OWN. The reverse features a Royal Doulton factory mark consisting of a lion standing atop a crown above a circular seal. The seal contains the words ROYAL DOULTON and ENGLAND surrounding an interlocking monogram. Size 10.5".
