Walker and Boutall, Hand-Colored Photogravure, Old Tom and Young Tom Morris
This hand-colored photogravure depicts the legendary Scottish golfer Old Tom Morris and his son, Young Tom Morris, in a landscape setting. The elder Morris is shown standing at left with his signature long beard and red bonnet, while Young Tom is captured in a putting stance at right. A distinct plate mark is visible around the central image. In the lower right corner of the plate, the printed inscription Walker and Boutall, Ph.Sc. identifies the London-based firm of engravers and printers. The title Old Tom and Young Tom is featured in a cursive script below the image. The print is professionally presented in a multi-layered mat with decorative ruled borders and housed in a gilt-finished frame. The reverse of the frame includes a printed biographical sketch of the subjects, a handwritten gift inscription dated Christmas 1990, and a label for The Golf Shop Collection. 13 1/2" x 15 1/2"
