Walter Hagen's Personal Souvenirs & Household Items from Estate
This lot features a group of personal effects and souvenirs formerly belonging to professional golfer Walter Hagen (1892–1969) and found in his house on Long Lake, MI. The assortment includes two mid-century modern style wooden bottle openers: one fashioned as a stylized bird mounted on a brass-toned pedestal with a circular wooden base, and another carved in the form of a fish with a brass-lined mouth designed for opening bottles. Also included is a wooden brush in the shape of a hedgehog with stiff dark bristles and two brass studs for eyes. The collection contains a pair of miniature wooden clogs featuring hand-painted landscape scenes and the stamped mark MADE IN HOLLAND on the underside. Completing the group is a composition bobblehead or nodder figurine depicting an elderly man in a kilt and tam o shanter; the hat bears a decal with the inscription SOUVENIR OF TRAVERSE CITY, MICH (his home city). These items are accompanied by provenance documentation including a COPY of the signed letter of authenticity and a typed list titled List of Walter Hagen Estate items which identifies several of the included pieces.
