c.1895 Leather Face Wood with A.H. Scott Patent No. 21444 Shaft Stamp


The pride of Elie and Earlsferry, Andrew Herd Scott (b.1875) was the nephew of renown clubmaker George Forrester, scoring an apprenticeship with his uncle at as well as working at Prestwick prior to starting his own company. Harry Vardon even traveled to Elie to play an exhibition against Scott in 1899, a fine player in his own right. Scott the clubmaker was known for his straightline putter and this club 'Fork Splice' with a supposed unbreakable neck and better balance with center shaft. Also boasting driving distance, as corroborated by Harold Hilton. Offered here for bidders is that A.H. Scott hickory shaft wood with Patent number 21444. This bulger design vintage wood has a shaft stamp with a leather face. There was an added screw to secure horn slip. 42" Please inspect the accompanying lot photos for a detailed condition report.
