c.1925 Morley 'Yello' Golf Wooden Tees in Original Box
A set of vintage Morley Yello golf tees in their original cardboard packaging. Manufactured by the Morley Button Manufacturing Company based at 120 Boylston Street Boston Massachusetts these tees represent a diversification of the company traditional button manufacturing into the sports equipment market during the early 20th century. The tees are constructed from painted wood featuring a distinctive design with a broad flat circular head atop a tapered shank. Each tee is finished in a uniform bright yellow paint.
The collection is housed in its original twocolor printed cardboard slide box. The exterior panels feature decorative graphics and identifying text. One face is marked THE Yello IMPROVED GOLF TEE and Made in USA. The reverse panel depicts a mesh golf ball on a tee with the text MORLEY Yello TEES and REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. The top of the box is printed with 18 Yello TEES PATENTED MARCH 10 1925 and 25 CENTS. The side panel identifies the manufacturer as MORLEY BUTTON MFG. CO. 120 BOYLSTON ST.
