Limbershaft Big Ball Driver Golf Club - US Pat. No. 1662712
As the first American billionaire, John D. Rockefeller set the stage for many CEO's and corporate head honchos not only in business but also in leisure. Rockefeller was a devout baptist, and when he retired in his 50's, golf proved to be an activity he could partake in without clashing with his beliefs. It is said that Rockefeller did not drive for distance very well, averaging only 100-150 yards a drive, but his short game was excellent, astounding even from 75 yards or so. Rockefeller wanted his drives to improve and purportedly asked a local pro for help, and thus the Limbershaft was born. The composite hickory and rattan shaft made the club head feel as though it were attached by string as opposed to an actual shaft. The club here comes in good condition, with visible wear to the head and grip, measuring 43" to the heel. The sole is stamped as follows:
"Limbershaft Golf Club Company
Tarpon Springs Florida
U. S. Pat. No. 1662712
Driver
Big Ball Model"
