c. 1900 Old Tom Morris Addressing Ball Postcard by Valentine - Uncommon Depiction

What makes this postcard highly desirable is that it is one of the few photo postcards issued showing Tom Morris actually addressing the ball and ready to hit on the links of St. Andrews. The majority of Tom Morris postcards show him standing in the background of a golfing scene or posing with a golf club. The caption in red ink on the top of the card reads “ On the Links, St. Andrews ( Tom Morris at the Tee)” It was published by Valentine’s postcards circa 1900. . It appears this was taken in a match with Tom Morris. His caddie stands in the background and two other golfers, in front of and behind Morris are with clubs ready to hit. Framing the card in the background are the R&A Clubhouse and what was then The Grand Hotel. Overall, very good condition, unposted, and a great card to add to your Tom Morris or St. Andrews collection.
