The “Why Not” Henley Golf Ball Advertising Postcard

This stunning scarce postcard features a golfer holding a presumed Why Not golf ball between his fingers and showing it to his female golfing companion. Henley spared no expense in commissioning the artwork for this postcard as to appears to have been created by a very skilled artist and has excellent detail. . The man is wearing a red golfing jacket and carrying a thin pencil type golf bag with clubs. His companion is holding on to her hat on an apparently windy day and has a golf club tucked under her arm. A course scene with golf green and flag appear in the background. The back of the postcard contains extensive advertising copy for the “ Why Not”. You could get the ball in two weights: Standard and Heavy. The standard weight floated as well. The cover was touted as being practically indestructible. The postcard was issued by Henley’s Telegraph Works Co. in London and bears a London postmark dated 1911. If you are lucky enough to have a Why Not golf ball in your collection this postcard would look great displayed with it.
