1922 Joseph Rodgers and Sons Silver-Plated City of Edmonton Golf Runner-Up Trophy Cup
A vintage silver-plated two-handled loving cup trophy manufactured by Joseph Rodgers and Sons. The trophy features an urn-shaped body with two high-swept handles and a flared pedestal base. The exterior and interior surfaces exhibit a deep, dark tarnish and patina over the silver-toned plating. The front of the cup is engraved with decorative script and block lettering: CITY OF EDMONTON (arched), 4th Flight (cursive), RUNNER-UP, M.H. MILLAR, and 1922. The inscription includes engraved foliate flourishes at the top and bottom. The use of the term Flight indicates the trophy was awarded for a specific division within a golf tournament. The underside of the base contains several stamped marks: a circular mark with RODGERS arched at the top surrounding a crown symbol with a star and Maltese cross below, MADE IN CANADA, E.P. COPPER, and the number 86. These marks identify the manufacturer and indicate the piece is electro-plated silver over a copper base. 5 1/2" x 4"
