1931 Bobby Jones vs Sleepy Hollow CC 72-Man-Field Type I Bunker Photo PSA
Bobby would come out of retirement to play competitive golf sparingly. Taking on a 72-man field at Sleepy Hollow CC in 1931 would be one of those times. This Type I silver gelatin news service photograph, issued by Wide World Photos, depicts Jones playing a bunker shot at the 3rd green of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, New York. The image, captured on September 22, 1931, shows Jones in his signature plus-fours, surrounded by a large gallery of spectators. The photograph is an original first-generation print made from the original negative within two years of the event. The reverse of the photograph features a glued paper caption slug, a blue ink stamp, and multiple date stamps.
