1931 Middlesex A.G. Spalding and Bros Crow in Flight Hole in One w/ Sterling Silver Trophy
Here we have one of the most distinctive hole
in one trophy in the golf collecting world.
It was awarded by A. G. Spalding Bros Ltd in for a
hole in one made at the 1931 Middlesex
Professional Championship.
It features a bronze crow in flight , symbolic of the
Spalding Kro flite golf ball, on top of a Spalding
mesh ball which we assume to be the actual ball
sunk for the hole in one.
The sterling label on the front (hallmark London
1931) is engraved but it is very faint and rubbed.
We can make out the following: “ Middlesex
Professional Championship” ….. “5. 10. 31.” ……
“George Oke”
The crow and ball are mounted on a 4’ x 1 ¼’ plinth.
The overall height of the trophy is approx. 4 inches.
The label on the rear of the plinth is “With
Compliments of, A. G. Spalding Bros. Ltd (Britain) “
This distinctive piece does not come up for auction
very often and would display excellently with other
Spalding Kro Flite items or as a stand-alone article
