The WWII 1941 Ryder Cup Challenge matches took place between Walter Hagen's Ryder Cup Team and Bobby Jones' Challengers. During the war with Ryder Cup competition put on hold, exhibition matches brought together the greatest players of the era, including amateur Bobby Jones, who led his team to an 8½-6½ upset of the Walter Hagen led Ryder Cup Team, Aug. 23-24, 1941, at Detroit Golf Club. This lot is for a photo of Bobby Jones himself playing in the challenge titled 'The Old Master Blasts One Out.' The clear black and white action shot was taken just fractions of a second after the sand escape. The verso includes the affixed accompanying lot photos.
