1947 USGA Amateur Public Links Contestant Badge #134


There was a team from Atlanta to attend and compete at the 1947 Public Links Championship, and they swept the event. Wilfred Crossley won the medal, the individual Championship and teamed with Lieut. Walter Browne and Charlie Barnes to take the team trophy. Presented here is a contestant badge from that Championship held in 1947. Employing the design which the United States Golf Association would use on it's Championship Contestants badges from the early 1930's until 1959. This example displays a top condition enamel facing. Also boldly present on the front of this gem is embossed "USGA" for the sanctioning United States Golf Association which oversaw this event. In addition, 'Minneapolis' is also presented nicely. Stamped on the reverse of the pin is "ROBBINS CO ATTLEBORO" its manufacturer
