1955 US Ryder Cup Team Gifted Money Clip Watch to British Team Manager Reginald Chas. Thomas Roe
As a classy gesture, the 1955 US Ryder Cup team presenting the British Team Manager Charles Thomas Roe this money clip featuring an integrated mechanical watch and extensive engraving. The money clip is constructed from polished gold-toned metal and features elaborate hand-engraved inscriptions on the front. The top fold is engraved 1955 / R.C.T. / R.O.E. / Secy. The lower portion of the clip is engraved From / U.S. Ryder Cup Team. Mounted at the center is a round mechanical watch with a bezel featuring black enamel or lacquer dash-pattern inserts. The watch dial features a textured grid pattern, gold-tone hour and minute hands, and a recessed sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is printed in black with the brand name Boulevard and the model name Esquire. The reverse of the clip body bears two stamped marks: a lowercase mcmahon - Shelby and the word plag, which is a common European abbreviation for plaqué, indicating the item is gold-plated. The watch crown is positioned at the 3 o'clock side of the watch case. The piece is presented in its original navy blue velvet box with a white satin-lined interior and a gold-tone metal frame.
