1997 Grand Slam Ventures Champions of Golf The Masters Collection Trading Card Set with Tiger Woods Card
This set of sports trading cards is the 1997 Champions of Golf: The Masters Collection, issued by Grand Slam Ventures. The collection is housed in its original black leatherette three-ring binder. The front cover and spine are gold-foil stamped with a silhouette of a golfer and text reading CHAMPIONS OF GOLF THE MASTERS COLLECTION. The interior covers of the binder feature silver-tone facsimile signatures of numerous Masters champions, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Ben Hogan. The cards are organized in clear plastic archival six-pocket sheets. Each card commemorates a Masters Tournament champion from the inaugural 1934 tournament through 1997. The cards feature a photograph of the winner on the front with their name and winning year. The card backs are printed with the text CHAMPIONS OF GOLF THE MASTERS COLLECTION and a copyright date of 1997, Grand Slam Ventures. The set includes cards for major golf figures such as Horton Smith, Gene Sarazen, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, and Fred Couples. A key component of this collection is the 1997 Tiger Woods card, commemorating his first Masters victory. The back of the Tiger Woods card includes biographical information stating Birthplace Cypress, CA, Birth Date December 30, 1975, and College Stanford University, along with a leaderboard showing his winning score of 270.
