A Collection of 1983 Arnold Palmer Limited Edition Commemorative Golf Set Marketing Ephemera
Group of original marketing and sales ephemera was produced in 1983 by ProGroup, Inc. to promote the Arnold Palmer Limited Edition 1954 U.S. Amateur Championship Commemorative Golf Set. The collection includes a large full-color, tri-fold glossy promotional brochure featuring photographs of the handcrafted commemorative clubs, leather bag, oak display rack, leather-bound book titled The Turning Point, and a companion VHS videotape. Documentation includes three copies of a two-page informational letter, two Application To Purchase 1954 Palmer Limited Edition booklets, two Business Reply Mail envelopes addressed to Arthur Andersen and Co. in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and two note cards regarding production timelines. The set is housed in the original mailing envelope addressed to Vivian and Fred Simmons. The printed materials specify that production was strictly limited to 3,000 sets worldwide and that the application process was audited by Arthur Andersen and Co. to ensure integrity. The clubs were handcrafted in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and featured forged irons and persimmon woods designed to Palmer's specifications.
