A Pair of Seymour Dunn Spliced Neck Hickory Shafted Golf Woods
This pair of vintage hickory-shafted golf woods is crafted with a spliced-neck or scare-head construction with the wooden heads are joined to the hickory shafts with an angled scarf joint secured by black thread whipping. The club heads are finished in a dark stain and feature lead back-weights. The first club is equipped with a brass sole plate secured by six square-head screws and a vertical metal face insert held by four screws. The second club features a dark fiber sole plate. Both club heads bear an identical stamped mark on the crown consisting of a crown crest above a ribbon containing the word VIETARTES. Below the crest on one head is a stamped maker mark reading MAKER SEYMOUR DUNN LAKE PLACID NEW YORK. The other head is stamped SEYMOUR DUNN -MAKER-. Near the grip of one shaft is a modern silver adhesive label from the Cedar Brae Golf & Country Club featuring a green maple leaf logo, the year 1922, and the partially legible name Norm M. The grips are composed of wrapped leather and fabric tape.
