Arnold Palmer Signed 1963 Ryder Cup at Atlanta Athletic Club Pairing Sheet - Last Playing Captain
Time-period blue ballpoint pen scribe of one Arnold Palmer runs across this 1963 Ryder Cup Friday pairing sheet for a rather uncommon duo. The King debuted in style as a playing Captain that year and led his team to the second-largest victory margin (23-9) in Ryder Cup history. When it was mentioned that Keegan Bradley might try playing as captain this year, the last to do so Arnold Palmer in '63 was brought up. Bradley's dual-quest was squashed, a nod to one of Arnie's many accomplishments. It was the first Ryder Cup with four-ball competition, increasing the point total to 32 points. On course pairing sheet as produced by the PGA of America from Atlanta's East Lake Country Club where 1963 matches were contested remains in fair condition with compact folds, please inspect the accompanying lot photos for a detailed report on this. Filled with Ryder Cup history and profiles on players and course which comprised the '63 Ryder Cup matches contested at the home course of Bobby Jones. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) comes with this lot.
