Australian Distinctive Sand Tee Box Trophy 1936
This trophy features a sand tee box labeled “465 YDS, Par 5” with a bag of clubs leaning against it.
The plate affixed to the base of the trophy is inscribed “C. G. C., Two Club Competition, Presented by Mrs. Patterson, Won by Mrs. Lamont, 1936
Per an article in the Jul 23, 1936, The Daily Telegraph, Sydney New South Wales. Australia newspaper, this trophy was played for at the Carnarvon Golf Club in Sydney.
The Carnavon Golf club began in 1927. Interestingly, the club hosted the Australian Boys' Amateur Championship in 2011, won by professional golfer Cameron Smith.
This item makes an excellent display piece and would make a truly unique addition to your golf trophy collection.
