Circa 1900 cobalt blue Copeland stoneware pitcher/creamer with matching beaker
Both the pitcher and the beaker bear the British registration date number of 345322 and the Copeland late Spode base stamp.
On 16 September 1899 registration for a design of golfing subjects was granted by the British Patent Office to W. T. Copeland & Sons, owners of the Spode company at the time, and given the registration number 345322.
The pitcher measures 4 ¾” tall and 6” from the end of handle to the end of spout. It features a multi golfer and caddy scene topped by a rim with a wreath of grasses.
The beaker is 4 “tall and 3” in diameter. It has a scene like the pitcher. It has a gold colored rim and gold bands around the base.
A like pitcher/creamer is found in the trusted Sprung price guide as item #42 and valued at the time of publication at $1000-1400.
The matching beaker however is seldom seen, and it makes an excellent accompaniment to the pitcher.
